Setting up your espresso machine for
    the first time

    1

Give the main parts a quick rinse

Before first use, remove the water tank, drip tray and steam wand, and rinse them in warm water. Dry them fully, then slot everything back into place.

    2

Place water filter and test water hardness

Install the filter into the tank using the mounting aid at the other end of the scoop.

If you're not using a water filter, test the hardness of your water with the testing strips. You can enter that level into your machine (see manual for instructions).

    3

    Fill the water tank

Next, fill up the water tank with fresh water from the tap, slot it into place and close the lid.

    4

    Switch on and automatic rinse

The machine will run a rinse through the dispenser each time you turn it on and off. Rinsing pre-heats the system for the ideal brewing temperature, then flushes away residue afterwards. Just remember to place an empty 0.7 L (24 oz) container under the dispenser to catch the rinse water.

    5

    Fill the bean hopper

Pour your favourite beans into the bean hopper, or add pre-ground coffee to the dedicated chute next to the hopper. Put the lid back on.

Get to know your home espresso machine

You'll soon have the hang of your new machine, it's simple to use and will quickly become part of your day. Let's get to know the different parts.

    Power switch

The on/off switch is at the side, just give it a press and watch your machine spring into action.

    Bean hopper

Fill and store your favourite coffee beans.

    Pre-ground coffee bypass

Fancy something different that's already ground? Or maybe decaf? Just skip what's in the grinder with this handy chute.

1.8 L water tank and filter

Makes at least 16 espresso shots¹ in a single fill.

    Drip tray

Say goodbye to spills – the tray catches them. It even has an 'empty me' reminder when it gets too full.

How do I make my first drink?

Now for the best part – your first drink. It’s wonderfully intuitive, so you’ll feel at home straight away.
Just follow the steps below and you’re off.

    1

Put your cup on the tray

Adjust the height of the dispenser if needed and make sure to place your cup directly under the nozzles on the drip tray.

If you're making 2 drinks at once, align the cups carefully, one under each nozzle, and select the 2 cup option.

    2

    Choose your drink

Toggle the ‘Drink Type’ button to select your drink. For iced coffee, select ‘Over Ice’ and put ice in your cup, under the dispenser, before brewing.

    3

    Adjust dose and strength

Use the 'Dose' and 'Strength' buttons to choose your preference.

    4

    Press Start

Then just watch it go, it's as easy as that!

    5

    Choose foam

Set the steam wand slider to the desired setting. Choose more foam for drinks like cappuccino and less foam for drinks like latte.

What can I make with my espresso machine?

You've got your very own café counter at home. From a rich espresso to a velvety cappuccino, there’s a whole line up waiting. With the steam wand, you can froth and texture milk your way, opening up even more possibilities. And that’s just the start. Play around with syrups, switch up the milk, add a dash of spice, or try it over ice. It’s your menu now.

    Espresso

The shot of coffee loved the world over. Water is forced through the grounds to make 30-45 ml of pure espresso. Makes one or two cups simultaneously.

    Coffee

Fans of drip coffee may prefer this option, which makes a full cup of black coffee with a full and round flavour. Makes one or two cups simultaneously .

    Iced coffee

Brewed coffee poured over ice – ready for a splash of milk, a swirl of vanilla, or a scoop of ice cream. Makes one or two cups simultaneously .

    Milk-based drinks

Crafted your way using the steam wand – from cappuccinos to flat whites. You can try your hand at latte art too.

    Mixing, Beating

It's convenient to dispense a cup of boiled water to use for anything you choose. Ideal for tea, for example.

What do the icons on the LED display mean?

The backlit LED display keeps everything clear and easy to follow. Use it to select your drink, including hot and iced options, and adjust settings like strength and size. It also shows helpful indicators for cleaning, refilling and other key steps.

How to clean and care for your machine

To keep your fully automatic espresso machine KF2 working at its best, you'll get into a simple routine of care. No need to keep track, as you'll be prompted to run a clean cycle by notifications. Or you can run one anytime by selecting the cleaning menu.

    1

Start up and shut down rinse

When it switches on, it gives itself a quick rinse to warm the internal pipes and brew unit, then another rinse when it shuts down

It's helpful to put an empty container under the spout, before rinses, to collect the water and prevent the drip tray from getting too full.

    2

    Regular care

Wash the drip tray when it gets full, empty used coffee from the puck container and give the machine a wipe with a damp cloth. None of the removable parts of the machine are dishwasher safe, simply rinse with warm water.

    3

Clean and purge the steam wand

After each use, use a damp cloth to clean the outside of the steam wand. Pull down on the metal tube to remove and rinse the inside of the tube. Put the metal tube back on to the steam wand and point the steam wand towards the drip tray. Turn on the steam wand for 3 seconds to clean.

    4

    Deeper cleaning

When deeper care is needed, the relevant icon on your espresso machine display will light up. Press and hold the Clean and Start/Cancel buttons together to access the cleaning menu, and again to start a program, then follow the instructions in your manual.

    Tips for your espresso machine

    Iced coffee starts with ice

Always add ice to your cup first. Then dispense your brewed coffee over it for a perfectly chilled, refreshing sip.

Prefer it stronger, hotter, or taller? Adjust the drink settings to match your taste.

    Don’t forget maintenance alerts

Don't ignore the prompts. Keep your machine happy and your coffee tasting great.

    Control your foam

Adjust the steam wand’s foam density for each drink using the toggle on the side. From light foam for cappuccinos to a creamier texture for lattes.
